American Standard Version
For the time will come when they will not endure the sound doctrine; but, having itching ears, will heap to themselves teachers after their own lusts;

Amplified® Bible
For the time is coming when [people] will not tolerate (endure) sound {and} wholesome instruction, but, having ears itching [for something pleasing and gratifying], they will gather to themselves one teacher after another to a considerable number, chosen to satisfy their own liking {and} to foster the errors they hold,

Contemporary English Version
The time is coming when people won't listen to good teaching. Instead, they will look for teachers who will please them by telling them only what they are itching to hear.

Darby English Version
For the time shall be when they will not bear sound teaching; but according to their own lusts will heap up to themselves teachers, having an itching ear;

Good News Bible
The time will come when people will not listen to sound doctrine, but will follow their own desires and will collect for themselves more and more teachers who will tell them what they are itching to hear.

For the time will come when people will not put up with healthy doctrine but with itching ears will surround themselves with teachers who cater to their own needs.
