quenched the power of fire, escaped the edge of the sword, from weakness were made strong, waxed mighty in war, turned to flight armies of aliens.

Amplified® Bible
Extinguished the power of raging fire, escaped the devourings of the sword, out of frailty {and} weakness won strength {and} became stalwart, even mighty {and} resistless in battle, routing alien hosts.

Contemporary English Version
and put out raging fires and escaped from the swords of their enemies. Although they were weak, they were given the strength and power to chase foreign armies away.
