sermonette: Perfect In His Generations

Understanding Genesis 6:9
Richard T. Ritenbaugh
Given 18-Dec-04; Sermon #697s; 16 minutes

Description: (hide)

The King James translation, written before 400 years of changing language, must be approached to understand the author's intention rather than the assumptions of the translator. One semantic drift occurring in Genesis 6:9, translated "perfect in his generations" (sometimes used to promote ethnic or racial discrimination) would better be translated complete, mature, or blameless among his contemporaries.
