sermonette: Initiative

Lessons From the Ant
Mike Ford
Given 10-Sep-05; Sermon #737s; 17 minutes

Description: (hide)

The conqueror Tammerlane became inspired and energized by an ant who successfully pushed a kernel of corn over a wall back to the ant colony after 69 failed attempts. Ants display diligence, resourcefulness, and initiative. An ant colony has an intricate division of responsibilities, including the queen, worker ants, and scouts. Ants have no leader but they do their job without being coerced, serving exclusively for the good of the colony. Ants do not rely on everybody, somebody, anybody, or nobody, but on their own initiative. We must imitate the ant, realizing that we must use our own initiative rather than helplessly depend on someone else to do the task we have been assigned.
