sermonette: Where is Beauty?

Looking Through God's Eyes
John W. Ritenbaugh
Given 14-Jan-06; Sermon #755s; 17 minutes

Description: (hide)

God alone is the author of beauty, creating the multiple sense modalities (sight, sound, touch, smell and taste) and has created nothing ugly, including sunsets, landscapes, differing flora and fauna, and even facial expressions. Tactile sensations (sense of touch) register perhaps the most comprehensive, kaleidoscopic cavalcade of beautiful sensations. God has created beauty in function, as in the marvelous function of a kidney, liver, or intestine. The beauty in the physical creation is only a mere shadow or suggestion that God sees in our potential as future members of God's family. Psalm 139 and Psalm 29 are remarkable reflections upon God Almighty as Supreme Artist and Creator of beauty.
