sermonette: Sweet Smelling Savor

Giving an Acceptable Offering
Martin G. Collins
Given 19-Apr-06; Sermon #770As; 14 minutes

Description: (hide)

The foul stench of the corpse flower contrasts with the sweet aroma of incense or a burnt offering. Even the sweet aroma of an offering becomes horrible if the person making the offering brings it with an evil or begrudging motive. Sweet aromas and fragrances were associated with the burnt offerings offered to God. Christ's sacrifice, given in perfect obedience, had a particularly sweet and pleasing aroma to God. As we bring our offerings, our motives should be pure and undefiled in order that they too may present a sweet savor to God.
