sermonette: Maintaining Christian Zeal

Bill Onisick
Given 20-May-06; Sermon #775s; 14 minutes

Description: (hide)

Where we place our time and energy reveals the source of our zeal. Although most people have a zeal for something, they do not all have Christian zeal, having love for God and His truth as the foundation. Paul uses the entirety of I Corinthians 13 to describe the scope and intensity of Christian zeal motivated by love and accessed only through the power of God's Holy Spirit. Christ described the zeal that consumed Him as a form of hunger, satisfied by doing the will of God, much the same as a physical hunger is satisfied by consuming physical food. We desperately need to develop an appetite for God's truth.
