The book, Tuesdays with Morrie, is about a mentor's and mentee's reunion which took place after the mentor contracted the life-destroying ALS (Lou Gehrig's disease). Morrie Schwartz gave a tutorial to his former student for the last fourteen weeks of his life, informing Mitch Albom what was important and what was not. The lessons underscore the biblical commands that in order to really live, we must realize that we will die, and we must learn to sacrifice our physical lives. That understanding will cause us to prioritize our time. As Christ warns us, if we try to save our lives we will lose them. We must be ready to sacrifice everything. Ironically, if we want to learn to really live, we must learn how to die, sacrificing our carnal lives for eternal lives.
