Many politicians want to regulate many things that should be a matter of choice, arrogantly believing that government can make better people. Similarly, some churches want to create a Nanny Church for the same reason. When this insidious mindset takes root, character growth is thwarted because choices are no longer encouraged. The solution to the nanny state is self-government. Where the Holy Spirit is working, there is no need for external controls, but inner controls will emanate from the heart.
