sermonette: Armor of Integrity and Love
The Breastplate of Righteousness
Ted E. Bowling
Given 20-Feb-10; Sermon #978s; 16 minutes
Description: (hide)
Ted Bowling, reflecting on John Reid's Korean War experience during which he was transported on a gurney through a trench, exposed to enemy fire, focuses on the breastplate of the armor of God. The armor has to be impervious to the weapons of fire. Integrity and righteousness (God's character), anchored by the belt of truth, protects us from being compromised from misguided self-will and self-righteousness. Faith and love (qualities as strong as the power of death) are other aspects analogized by the breastplate. God's love protects us against anxiety and despair.
