sermonette: Finishing the Week

Israel's Future Covenant
David C. Grabbe
Given 17-Sep-11; Sermon #1066s; 18 minutes

Description: (hide)

The New Covenant enacted by the Messiah in the Seventy-Weeks Prophecy provides divine grace, forgiveness of sins, and laws internalized for Jews and Gentiles alike. This enigmatic prophecy has often been misinterpreted or totally misunderstood; some Protestants mistakenly think that the Jews will make a covenant with the Anti-Christ for seven years. The Covenant referred to in Daniel 9:27 is actually the covenant Jesus Christ makes with the First Fruits, composed of remnants of the Jews and grafted-in Gentiles into the Israel of God or Spiritual Israel, a covenant in which the laws would be engraved into our hearts and the objectives in Daniel 9:24 would be fulfilled: finishing the transgression, making an end out of sins, making reconciliation for iniquity, bringing in everlasting righteousness, sealing up the vision and prophecy, and anointing the most Holy. When this prophetic week has ended, all of these prophecies will have been fulfilled. The Messiah's final confirmation of the Covenant will occur during the last half of the week, when the natural branches of physical Israel will be grafted into the revitalized nation of Israel, a joyous harvest in which the First Fruits will participate.
