sermonette: The Belt of Truth

The Belt Provides Stability to the Armor of God
Ted E. Bowling
Given 28-Jul-12; Sermon #1113s; 16 minutes

Description: (hide)

The metaphor of the belt of truth in Ephesians 6 derived from the example of the leather belt wrapped tightly around the soldier. Truth must be wrapped around us securely if we are to survive spiritually. Jesus Christ is the belt of truth, holding everything securely. The belt brings stability, safety, and protection. Truth keeps us from flopping back and forth, moving from one doctrine to another, preventing us from compromising. We need to cling to the truth, metaphorically wrapping it around us. The belt of truth holds everything in place in the proper perspective, enabling us to stand fast.
