sermonette: Do We Value Our Inheritance

Clinging to God
Ronny H. Graham
Given 04-Aug-12; Sermon #1114s; 17 minutes

Description: (hide)

The promise of inheritance given to Abraham in Genesis 13 was not fulfilled until Joshua and Caleb brought Israel into the Promised Land following lengthy battles. Further intrigue concerning the inheritance centered on Jacob's wresting the birthright away from Esau. Later, Jacob experienced immense fear when he returned to the land of his father, realizing he had attained the birthright by deceit. Esau had focused so much on the here and now, forgetting about the long-range promises. Jacob, through struggling, overcoming and prevailing, grew in stature spiritually, losing the fear he formerly had experienced. We need to have the same tenacity and perseverance as Jacob exercised to hang onto his birthright.
