The invitation in the parable of the wedding feast in Matthew 22 could have symbolized the calling given to ancient Israel which was rebuffed, replaced by the calling given to the Israel of God, the Church. When God calls individuals, He equips them to do their tasks. As God calls His Church, the individual members make themselves ready for the Marriage Supper.
