sermonette: Venting

Going to God When the Pressure Builds
Ryan McClure
Given 25-Jan-14; Sermon #1195s; 16 minutes

Description: (hide)

The human tendency to "blow off steam" is not wise. Proverbs indicts that a fool vents all his feelings. We feel motivated to vent when (1) we want to justify ourselves, (2) adopt a victim mentality, (3) refuse to face a personal problem directly, or (4) we think it therapeutic. Actually "letting it all out" exacerbates the problem. If we go humbly to God, asking Him for help, casting all our anxieties upon Him, we will find the heretofore unbearable pressure becomes tolerable.
