commentary: Learning the Right Things (Part One)

John W. Ritenbaugh (1932-2023)
Given 09-Dec-17; Sermon #1409c; 12 minutes

Description: (show)

Proverbs 22:6 indicates that habits formed early can interfere with newly acquired behaviors. The rapidity with which ancient Israel returned to behaviors learned in bondage in their formative years derives from this principle. The harmful things people learn thoroughly in their youth will sabotage any helpful steps to correct this earlier enslaving conditioning. Forty years on the Sinai failed to wash out these noxious youthful habits and behaviors Israel learned in slavery. Jacob's children to this very day have failed to rid themselves of the disgusting compromising habits that lead to slavery. Britain is rapidly losing the culture war to Muslim invaders as evidenced from the major cities in Britain occupied by Muslim mayors enforcing Sharia law. The United States, for decades weakened by 'progressive' leftist Communist, socialist influence in academia and politics is following Britain's sorry, disgusting example. The sun has indeed set on the British empire, and unless some unforeseen repentance occurs within the United States, America will also fall into the same deadly quagmire. The prophecy given by Nikita Khrushchev on November 18, 1956, "we will bury you," seems to be coming true.

The last time I gave a commentary, I began it with Proverbs 22:6, which says, "Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it." This is a truism that teaches us that things learned at a young age tend to be remembered into adulthood and used. The principle as stated is true, and the key to its value lies in whether the child is taught things that are truly valuable in terms of the child's character. The child can also learn forms of deceit, irresponsibility and faithlessness, which certainly are not good but they can be learned, retained, kept in mind, and used.

When Israel was released by God from its bondage to Egypt, the Bible describes Israel coming out with a joyous high hand. It is interesting to recall that just a week before coming out of the waters of the Red Sea in a type of baptism, the Israelites observed their first Passover. Three months later, while in camp at Mount Sinai, they heard the very voice of God Himself as He spoke the Ten Commandments, and God entered into a covenant with them and they became a nation—God's nation.

So many of these things at that period of time were good, and they were new. Let's say, as the faith, they were young people, and you would think that these things would really be ingrained upon their minds. However, within a short period of time, literally only days from the time that they heard the voice of God while still on Mount Sinai, they attempted to reconfigure the God who gave them their liberty, their law, and their righteous leadership in the person of Moses—they reconfigured God into nothing more than a golden, manmade bull. They were not learning Proverbs 22:6. It did not penetrate their minds.

The very Israelites who heard the voice of God very quickly revealed that which they learned in their unconverted youth—it came spilling out in mere days, despite the parting of the Red Sea. They reverted to the very things they worshipped from their youth because that was what was in their hearts and they were religiously enslaved to it. Their carnal minds, just as the apostle Paul wrote in Romans 8:5-7, were focused—fixed—on the things of this world, and they never recovered from that experience there on Mount Sinai. The entire forty years they were in the wilderness, despite Moses' outstanding leadership and occasional miracles from God, the things they learned in their youth really stuck. You can see where a proverb like that would come from.

Now, along with the United States of America, all of what we know as the Israelitish nations in Europe are falling before a more or less peaceful invasion from Muslim nations, who are snuffing out the passive so-called "Christian" cultures in those Israelitish nations. But what did those Israelites learn in their youth? Well, we are following in their paths. We are going in the same basic direction they have already gone. They are preceding us.

I am going to tell you what I forsee for the United States of America, unless some vast deep-felt repentance takes place. I am going to describe England. The mayor of London is a Muslim. The mayor of Birmingham is a Muslim. The mayor of Leeds is a Muslim. The mayor of Blackburn—also England—is a Muslim. The mayor of Sheffield is a Muslim. The mayor of Oxford, where the university is, is a Muslim. The mayor of Luton is a Muslim. The mayor of Oldham is a Muslim, and the mayor of Rockdale is a Muslim. Eight cities in Britain have already fallen under the rule of these people, and they only amount to a population of four million out of a total population in England off sixty six million. The Muslims are outnumbered 16½:1, and they are taking over the country.

Are we going to fight back, or are we going to show those who are taking over this country what we learned in our youth? We did not learn Christianity; we learned a false Christianity. The Muslims are winning the cultural war in England without firing a shot. There are over 3,000 mosques in England, operating 130 shariah Muslim courts. Regarding the workforce, 78% of Muslim women do not work, but they do have free social benefits, including housing. How about the males? Sixty three percent of Muslim males do not work, but they also qualify for free benefits, including housing. Muslim families average six to eight children, and now all British government schools serve only hallal meats—clean—and as in France, there are Muslim only no-go areas spreading across the UK.

Now, since we Americans are of the same basic Israelitish mindset as our European cousins, the future of the United States of America is clearly visible, because we cannot even get a handle on our immigration policy in this formerly-wonderful nation God reserved for His people. How did this happen that we are being driven from the high pinnacle of respect and admiration that we formerly held in the world, so that now those coming here do not desire to emulate Americans? They simply want the possess what we already have. They are taking over in England.

During the last half of October, I read this quote I am going to read to you and I saved it for an appropriate commentary. I had not heard of this author before, but I do know he is correct in his assessment. His name is Daniel Greenfield. He's an American, and he made this comment in 2015:

All wars are culture wars. To win you must destroy the values of the other side. (That is one reason why we're losing to Islam no matter how many times we beat them on the battlefield. [JWR: They keep holding on to their culture.]) You must destroy their sense of purpose and the values instilled in them to break them as an organization.

That's what is happening to us. We are losing what built this nation. We are giving up our culture. Many of you were not even alive back in 1956 when the Nikita Khrushchev, while speaking with a fairly large group of Western-nation diplomats visiting in Russia, proclaimed several times to them, "We will bury you." The man was a prophet. Americans scoffed, because filled with pride in the power of our economic and military might, we were "unbeatable," or so we thought. At one time in world history, Britain was an empire on which the sun never set. Things change, and sometimes dramatically. It now looks as though the sun has set there and we are headed in the same direction as the Brits.

But the communists—Nikita Khrushchev—had a plan, and that plan was already in operation within the borders of this nation when he made that statement. And we now know that some of what Senator McCarthy and others were claiming before the American public was true. We know now that these enemies, who were socialists and communistic, were not the only enemies, but they were far more widespread than we ever imagined. So if I continue this on, the next chapter will be, "Make sure we learn the right things."
