sermonette: The King's Highway

Ronny H. Graham
Given 09-Jan-21; Sermon #1578s; 16 minutes

Description: (hide)

Ronny Graham, pointing to the beautiful scene on the CGG website of the delightful road with bluebonnets seemingly going on forever on both sides, ruminates about famous roadways, including Roman roads, the Kings Highway linking New England to the Carolinas, and the Interstate Highway system (built in the Eisenhower era and inspired by the German Autobahn for defense purposes), switches the focus to Biblical references to highways. God provided highways in the wilderness to deliver our ancestors from bondage in Egypt (Isaiah 43:19-21), to alert God's people that salvation is coming (Isaiah 62:10-11) and to encourage them about the coming Millennial Highway of Holiness (Isaiah 35:1-11) on which only the righteous will travel, a highway paid for by the sacrifice of Jesus Christ. That highway is a metaphor describing a joyful time in the future in which God will make all things new and wipe away every tear from every eye (Revelation 21:1-5).
