sermonette: Psalm 23

The LORD is My Shepherd
Ronny H. Graham
Given 15-Feb-25; Sermon #1804s; 17 minutes

Description: (hide)

In W. Phillip Keller's book, A Shepherd Looks at Psalm 23, the author draws some significant parallels between human dependence on God and the sheep's reliance on their shepherd. The psalmist David focuses on his peace and confidence, contrasting his earlier struggles he had as a shepherd driving off fierce predators in his father's flock. Both David and his descendant, Jesus Christ, demonstrated their dedication in protecting the sheep, even at great personal risk, unlike hirelings in our previous fellowship as well as the unfaithful shepherds leading Jacob's offspring during the past several years. Our trust should never be in princes or human governments, but instead in Almighty God, who protects His people as the ultimate Shepherd. Believers must trust fully in the Lord, echoing the Psalm's declaration: "The Lord is my Shepherd, I shall not want."
