sermonette: God's Love

Comparing Human Conduct to God's Love
Bill Cherry
Given 23-Apr-03; Sermon #608Bs; 12 minutes

Description: (hide)

When we compare our righteousness to God's righteousness, we realize how pitifully lacking we are in the elementary qualities of love and how full of leavening (self-righteousness and pride) we are. God deals more gently with His enemies than we are inclined to do with ours. God wants everyone, including His current enemies, to experience the blessings they would experience if they followed His commandments. Self-righteousness and pride constitute leavening agents which prevent the kind of love God wants us to project to others — both to the just and the unjust.
