sermonette: Holy for the Lord

Sweet Smelling Sacrifice
Martin G. Collins
Given 10-Apr-15; Sermon #1261As; 14 minutes

Description: (hide)

The foulest smelling item on the earth is the Titan Arum flower, which emits the odor of rotting flesh. In contrast, Scripture records the wonderful aromas from burnt offerings and fragrant incense, symbolic of prayers. If the Israelites were to use this incense for profane or personal purposes, they would be cut off from their people. A righteous who man compromises with God's Law is like dead flies in perfume. Incense symbolizes the prayers of the saints; sweet aromas are as horrible as the odor of Titan Arum if offered by people in defiance. Our offerings, as our prayers, should remain holy for the Lord, exuding a fragrant aroma.
