commentary: No Children, No Hope For the Future

Martin G. Collins
Given 12-Jan-19; Sermon #1469c; 13 minutes

Description: (show)

The relatively large number of childless European leaders serve as an emblem of the curse of barrenness which has fallen on Western civilization. Total fertility declines are evident throughout Europe, dropping precipitously from four children per couple in 1950 to two (or lower) in 2018. The total fertility rate today is below the number required to maintain a growing population (replacing individuals who die) without adopting a public policy of immigration. In the case of Europe, this immigration involves the importation of people who do not share European languages, culture or values. The result is to place Europe in a struggle to maintain its cultural identity. Sadly, Western civilization, especially that part of it represented by Israel, has embraced narcissism, abortion, homosexual unions, and pedophilia, in effect begging Almighty God to impose a curse of barrenness. Western civilization has chosen death rather than life (Deuteronomy 30:15-19, Isaiah 46:7-11).

Europe's childless leadership is misleading the continent to destruction. The majority of Europe's most important leaders have no children. This not only symbolizes the death of Europe, but it demonstrates that the leaders have no hope for the future.

There are more childless politicians leading Western Europe’s major nations than ever before. This includes:

» Britain’s Theresa May

» France’s Emmanuel Macron

» Germany’s Angela Merkel

» Holland’s Mark Rutte

» Ireland’s Leo Varadkar (a homosexual)

» Luxembourg’s Xavier Bettel (a homosexual)

» Scotland’s Nicola Sturgeon

» Sweden’s Stefan Lofven

» Switzerland’s Simonetta Sommaruga

Of a total EU population of 510 million, 310 million are living in countries that have childless leaders. These leaders see themselves as contemporary, tolerant, and multicultural, and they know that everything finishes with them. From their perverse way of thinking, being childless is a relief since it means no spending for families, no sacrifices and that no one complains about the future consequences. In contrast, being a mother or a father means that you do have a reason to implement a plan to assure your children’s future and your family’s homeland.

However, since these leaders have no children, they have no reason to worry about the future of their continent. German philosopher Rüdiger Safranski wrote:

For the childless, thinking in terms of the generations to come loses relevance. Therefore, they behave more and more as if they were the last and see themselves as standing at the end of the chain.

The fact that the leaders of Europe's biggest economies, and all the European members of the G7, are childless is not only statistically improbable, but all but impossible for most of human history. This indicates the planned obsolescence of part of humanity through voluntary barrenness.

Merkel's childless status mirrors German society. Thirty percent of German women have not had children, according to European Union statistics, with the figure rising among female university graduates to 40%.

According to a new study published by the Institut National d'études Démographiques, 25% of European women born in the 1970s remain childless. One in nine women born in England and Wales in 1940 were childless at the age of 45, compared to one in five of those born in 1967.

It’s not only in Europe; many of the world’s leaders are childless. It is this way throughout the world. Sadly, they are ready and willing to use and abuse the children of others. They see nothing wrong with exploiting them. There have been numerous news stories lately about pedophile rings and child slave trafficking by politicians, Catholic priests and others in positions of power in many countries.

It is very disturbing to have a political class that is detached from the experience and responsibility of parenthood and family life. They have no personal emotional tie to the next generation. Europeans have chosen the leaders that represent this trend of failing to reproduce themselves. Yet it is this band of increasingly technocratic and feminized politicians who are deciding Europe’s children’s and grandchildren’s future.

So, it’s obvious that, rather than addressing population decline through family and child policy reforms, this cartel of politicians is promoting a population replacement policy through migration. Also, is it any wonder that abortion is so viciously supported by these degenerates?

In addition to leaders’ intentional effort to remain barren, there has been a remarkable global decline in the number of children women are having, say researchers. A new report found fertility rate declines meant nearly half of all countries were now facing insufficient children to maintain their population size. The trend means profound consequences—more grandparents than grandchildren for these future societies.

The study, published in the Lancet, followed trends in every country from 1950 to 2017. In 1950, women were having an average of 4.7 children in their lifetime. The fertility rate all but halved to 2.4 children per woman by last year (worldwide). But that masks huge variation between nations. The fertility rate in Niger, west Africa, is 7.1, but in the UK, the rate is 1.7, similar to most Western European countries.

The total fertility rate is the average number of children a woman gives birth to in her lifetime. It is different from the birthrate, which is the number of children born per thousand people each year. Whenever a country's rate drops below approximately 2.1, then populations will eventually start to shrink.

At the start of the study, in 1950 there were zero nations in this position. More economically developed countries including most of Europe, the US, South Korea and Australia have lower fertility rates. It does not mean the number of people living in these countries is falling, at least not yet as the size of a population is a mix of the fertility rate, death rate and migration. Without migration, countries will face aging and shrinking populations.

The report, part of the Global Burden of Diseases analysis, says affected countries will need to consider increasing immigration (of course, this would be the globalists' recommendation for solving this problem), which can create its own problems, or introducing policies to encourage women to have more children, which often fail.

China has seen huge population growth since 1950, going from around half a billion inhabitants to 1.4 billion. But it too is facing the challenge of fertility rates, which stood at only 1.5 in 2017, and China has recently moved away from its infamous "one child" policy.

The reason developed countries need a fertility rate of 2.1 is because not all children survive to adulthood and babies are slightly more likely to be male than female. But in China, the report shows that for every 100 girls born, there were 117 boys, which implies very substantial sex-selective abortion and even female infanticide.

Now let’s change direction. In the beginning, the lush fruitfulness of the Garden of Eden and the splendor of male and female sexuality promised a fertility that glorified all life as originally created by God. When Adam and Eve sinned, God cursed the blessed fertility of His creation. As a result, the soil of the garden produced thorns and thistles, requiring laborious toil to yield food. In a sense, human fertility was cursed as childbearing became a painful and life-threatening (at times) event.

In the Bible, fruitful land and fertile women are images of the sanctity of life as God had originally intended it. The opposite of these, desolate land and barren women, are biblical images of the consequences of sin.

Isaiah 47:8-11 "Therefore hear this now, you who are given to pleasures, who dwell securely, who say in your heart, 'I am, and there is no one else besides me; I shall not sit as a widow, nor shall I know the loss of children'; but these two things shall come to you in a moment, in one day: The loss of children, and widowhood. They shall come upon you in their fullness, Because of the multitude of your sorceries, for the great abundance of your enchantments [referring to self-indulgent societies as a whole; it is desiring what society has to offer]. "For you have trusted in your wickedness; you have said, 'No one sees me' [that is a defiant silencing of conscience]; your wisdom and your knowledge have warped you [there is intellectual pride that distorts judgment]; and you have said in your heart, 'I am, and there is no one else besides me.' [We see pride and narcissism. We see a description of today's leaders in society.] Therefore evil shall come upon you; you shall not know from where it arises. And trouble shall fall upon you; you will not be able to put it off. And desolation shall come upon you suddenly, which you shall not know [is coming].

Barrenness—infertility—in the Bible is an image of lifelessness, where God's blessing is absent. The loss of children is a universal curse on society for living a lifestyle of self-indulgences, self-centeredness and pride, which makes children undesirable because they interfere with their debauchery. In other words, children “cramp their style!”

In stark contrast, God gives children as a heritage and reward to those who fear Him.

Psalm 127:3 Behold, children are a heritage from the Lord, the fruit of the womb is a reward.

And finally,

Deuteronomy 30:19-20 I call heaven and earth as witnesses today against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing; therefore choose life, that both you and your descendants may live; that you may love the Lord your God, that you may obey His voice, and that you may cling to Him, for He is your life and the length of your days;….

Children add hope for the future!
