sermonette: Friends

Craig Sablich
Given 27-Mar-21; Sermon #1589s; 15 minutes

Description: (hide)

The Scriptures encourage wholesome friendship, as exemplified by Abraham's friendship with God. We must not become friends with the world, particularly with what the world proffers for "entertainment," which actively promotes immorality as a norm and therefore subtly teaches disobedience to God's law. Proverbs 6:16 highlights the things which God considers abominations—abominations which Israel's entertainment industry glorifies, dedicated as it is to teaching the perverted principles of the prince of the power of the air. God's people should not waste their time on entertainments dedicated to spreading Satan's lies, but rather turn their attention to pure and wholesome things (Philippians 4:8) with the aim of growing into the image of Jesus Christ, taking on God's perspective. As Abraham sought to seek God's friendship, God's people must follow that example.
