sermonette: Remember the Sabbath Day

The Fourth Commandment: Make the Effort
Hunter D. Swanson
Given 09-Dec-23; Sermon #1738s; 12 minutes

Description: (hide)

All of God's people have at times felt overwhelmed by grief and exhaustion, needing a genuine rehabilitative rest. Almighty God created the seventh day Sabbath (Exodus 20:8-11, the 4th commandment) to provide a solemn period of rest and spiritual rejuvenation. As God's chosen saints, we have the responsibility to channel energy into the Sabbath to lean fully upon God. Our Creator also made the Sabbath to provide a specific service to mankind, nurturing spiritual needs, sanctifying the emergent spiritual body. The world, governed by satanic pulls, would like to destroy the uniqueness of the Sabbath, but if God's people would make the extra effort to focus upon God, He promises to satisfy our souls and bones with more abundant rest than we could ever expect using our own resources.
