sermonette: Passing By in Glory

Walking on the Sea
Richard T. Ritenbaugh
Given 02-Nov-24; Sermon #1789s; 18 minutes

Description: (hide)

In the film industry, the term "Easter egg" is a term used to describe a hidden allusion in a film. Likewise, there are also hidden connections in the Bible. Jesus' walking on the water in the pitch-black darkness of early morning, revealing Himself to the disciples (perhaps illuminating Himself), could be an allusion to the time Almighty God passed by Moses in Exodus 33-34, similar to God's passing by Elijah in I Kings 19. From both episodes, we can conclude that Jesus intended His passing by on the Sea of Galilee to trigger a connection in His disciples' minds, encouraging them to recognize Him as the God of the Old Testament, their Provider and Savior.
