II Kings 18:5-7
Excerpted from: The Appointed Weeks of PentecostThat is high praise indeed. However, during Hezekiah’s reign, Sennacherib, the king of Assyria, invaded Judah, took some cities, and demanded tribute, to which Hezekiah yielded. But Sennacherib was not content with this and came back for more, threatening to destroy the nation altogether. But the Assyrians were so confident that they blasphemed God. They said their gods were greater, and that it was vain to trust in Judah’s God. Hezekiah took the matter to God, inquiring through Isaiah. Isaiah came back with a response in which God promised to deliver Hezekiah and the nation, and to destroy Sennacherib.
