American Standard Version
Then said Saul unto his armor-bearer, Draw thy sword, and thrust me through therewith, lest these uncircumcised come and abuse me. But his armor-bearer would not; for he was sore afraid. Therefore Saul took his sword, and fell upon it.

Amplified® Bible
Then Saul said to his armor-bearer, Draw your sword and thrust me through with it, lest these uncircumcised come and abuse {and} make sport of me. But his armor-bearer would not, for he was terrified. So Saul took his own sword and fell on it.

Contemporary English Version
Saul told the soldier who carried his weapons, "Kill me with your sword! I don't want those godless Philistines to torture and make fun of me." But the soldier was afraid to kill him. Then Saul stuck himself in the stomach with his own sword and fell on the blade.

Darby English Version
Then said Saul to his armour-bearer, Draw thy sword, and thrust me through with it; lest these uncircumcised come and abuse me. But his armour-bearer would not; for he was much afraid. So Saul took the sword and fell on it.

Good News Bible
He said to the young man carrying his weapons, "Draw your sword and kill me, to keep these godless Philistines from gloating over me." But the young man was too terrified to do it. So Saul took his own sword and threw himself on it.

But his armor-bearer was terrified and would not do it; so Saul took his own sword and fell on it.
