2 Chronicles 1:1

Solomon Requests Wisdom

1 Now ^aSolomon the son of David was strengthened in his kingdom, and ^bthe Lord his God was with him and ^cexalted him exceedingly.

2 And Solomon spoke to all Israel, to ^athe captains of thousands and of hundreds, to the judges, and to every leader in all Israel, the heads of the fathers’ houses.

3 Then Solomon, and all the assembly with him, went to¹ the high place that was at ^aGibeon; for the tabernacle of meeting with God was there, which Moses the servant of the Lord had ^bmade in the wilderness.

And Solomon the son of David - The very beginning of this book shows that it is a continuation of the preceding, and should not be thus formally separated from it. See the preface to the first book.

The Lord his God was with him - "The Word of the Lord was his support." - Targum.
