Contemporary English Version
and it disappears like a shadow. Our struggles are senseless; we store up more and more, without ever knowing who will get it all.

Darby English Version

Good News Bible
no more than a shadow. All we do is for nothing; we gather wealth, but don't know who will get it.

King James Version
Surely every man walketh in a vain shew: surely they are disquieted in vain: he heapeth up riches, and knoweth not who shall gather them.

New American Standard Bible
"Surely every man walks about as a phantom; Surely they make an uproar for nothing; He amasses {riches} and does not know who will gather them.

New International Version

He bustles about, but only in vain;
he heaps up wealth, not knowing who will get it.

New King James Version
Surely every man walks about like a shadow;
Surely they busy themselves in vain;
He heaps up riches,
And does not know who will gather them.

Only, in an image doth each walk habitually, Only, `in' vain, they are disquieted, He heapeth up and knoweth not who gathereth them.
