And he saw a resting-place that it was good, And the land that it was pleasant; And he bowed his shoulder to bear, And became a servant under taskwork.

Amplified® Bible
And he saw that rest was good and that the land was pleasant; and he bowed his shoulder to bear [his burdens] and became a servant to tribute [subjected to forced labor].

Contemporary English Version
You found them so pleasant that you worked too hard and became a slave.

Darby English Version
And he saw the rest that it was good, And the land that it was pleasant; And he bowed his shoulder to bear, And was a tributary servant.

Good News Bible
But he sees that the resting place is good And that the land is delightful. So he bends his back to carry the load And is forced to work as a slave.

King James Version
And he saw that rest was good, and the land that it was pleasant; and bowed his shoulder to bear, and became a servant unto tribute.

New American Standard Bible
"When he saw that a resting place was good And that the land was pleasant, He bowed his shoulder to bear {burdens,} And became a slave at forced labor.

When he sees how good is his resting place
and how pleasant is his land,

And he seeth rest that `it is' good, And the land that `it is' pleasant, And he inclineth his shoulder to bear, And is to tribute a servant.
