Psalms 69:21
Compare all
19 You know amy reproach, my shame, and my dishonor;
My adversaries are all before You.
20 Reproach has broken my heart,
And I am full of1 heaviness;
aI looked for someone to take pity, but there was none;
And for bcomforters, but I found none.
21 They also gave me gall for my food,
aAnd for my thirst they gave me vinegar to drink.
22 aLet their table become a snare before them,
And their well-being a trap.
23 aLet their eyes be darkened, so that they do not see;
And make their loins shake continually.

Psalms 69:21

Instead of such, his enemies increase his pain by giving him most distasteful food and drink. The Psalmist may have thus described by figure what Christ found in reality (compare John 19:29-30).
