5 He who gathers in ^asummer is a wise son;
He who sleeps in harvest is ^ba son who causes shame.

6 Blessings are on the head of the righteous,
But violence covers the mouth of the wicked.

7 ^aThe memory of the righteous is blessed,
But the name of the wicked will rot.

8 The wise in heart will receive commands,
^aBut¹ a prating fool will fall.

9 ^aHe who walks with integrity walks securely,
But he who perverts his ways will become known.

The memory of the just is blessed - Or, is a blessing.

But the name of the wicked shall rot - This is another antithesis; but there are only two antithetic terms, for memory and name are synonymous - Lowth. The very name of the wicked is as offensive as putrid carrion.
