The king's favor is toward a servant that dealeth wisely; But his wrath will be `against' him that causeth shame.

Amplified® Bible
The king's favor is toward a wise {and} discreet servant, but his wrath is against him who does shamefully.

Kings reward servants who act wisely, but they punish those who act foolishly.
