Proverbs 16:6

4 The ^aLord has made all for Himself,
^bYes, even the wicked for the day of¹ doom.

5 ^aEveryone proud in heart is an abomination to the Lord;
Though they join¹ forces, none will go unpunished.

6 ^aIn mercy and truth
Atonement is provided for iniquity;
And ^bby the fear of the Lord one departs from evil.

7 When a man’s ways please the Lord,
He makes even his enemies to be at peace with him.

8 ^aBetter is a little with righteousness,
Than vast revenues without justice.

9 ^aA man’s heart plans his way,
^bBut the Lord directs his steps.

Compare Proverbs 15:8. "By mercy and truth," not by sacrifices and burnt-offerings, "iniquity is purged, atoned for, expiated." The teaching is the same as that of the prophets.
