Exodus 9:29
Compare all
27 And Pharaoh sent and acalled for Moses and Aaron, and said to them, b“I have sinned this time. cThe Lord is righteous, and my people and I are wicked.
28 aEntreat the Lord, that there may be no more2 mighty thundering and hail, for it is enough. I will let you bgo, and you shall stay no longer.”
29 So Moses said to him, “As soon as I have gone out of the city, I will aspread out my hands to the Lord; the thunder will cease, and there will be no more hail, that you may know that the bearth is the Lord’s.
30 But as for you and your servants, aI know that you will not yet fear the Lord God.”
31 Now the flax and the barley were struck, afor the barley was in the head and the flax was in bud.
32 But the wheat and the spelt were not struck, for they are1 late crops.

Exodus

EXODUS, a "going forth," derives its name from its being occupied principally with a relation of the departure of the Israelites from Egypt, and the incidents that immediately preceded as well as followed that memorable migration. Its authorship by Moses is distinctly asserted by himself (Exodus 24:4), as well as by our Lord (Mark 12:26; Luke 20:37). Besides, the thorough knowledge it exhibits of the institutions and usages of the ancient Egyptians and the minute geographical details of the journey to Sinai, establish in the clearest manner the authenticity of this book.
