Therefore hath the curse devoured the earth, and they that dwell therein are found guilty: therefore the inhabitants of the earth are burned, and few men left.

Amplified® Bible
Therefore a curse devours the land {and} the earth, and they who dwell in it suffer the punishment of their guilt. Therefore the inhabitants of the land {and} the earth are scorched {and} parched [under the curse of God's wrath], and few people are left.

Contemporary English Version
The earth is under a curse; its people are dying out because of their sins.

Darby English Version
Therefore doth the curse devour the earth, and they that dwell therein are held guilty; therefore the inhabitants of the earth are consumed, and few men are left.

Good News Bible
So God has pronounced a curse on the earth. Its people are paying for what they have done. Fewer and fewer remain alive.
