a“Inasmuch as these people draw near with their mouths
And honor Me bwith their lips,
But have removed their hearts far from Me,
And their fear toward Me is taught by the commandment of men,
Among this people,
A marvelous work and a wonder;
bFor the wisdom of their wise men shall perish,
And the understanding of their prudent men shall be hidden.”
And their works are in the dark;
bThey say, “Who sees us?” and, “Who knows us?”
Shall the potter be esteemed as the clay;
For shall the athing made say of him who made it,
“He did not make me”?
Or shall the thing formed say of him who formed it,
“He has no understanding”?
Future Recovery of Wisdom
Till aLebanon shall be turned into a fruitful field,
And the fruitful field be esteemed as a forest?
And the eyes of the blind shall see out of obscurity and out of darkness.
And bthe poor among men shall rejoice
In the Holy One of Israel.
aThe scornful one is consumed,
And all who bwatch for iniquity are cut off—
And alay a snare for him who reproves in the gate,
And turn aside the just bby empty words.

Isaiah 29:14
I will proceed to do - Hebrew, ' I will add to do;' that is, I will do it.
For the wisdom of their wise men shall perish - I will bring calamity upon them which shall baffle all the skill and wisdom of their wise men.
Shall be hid - That is, shall not appear; shall vanish. It shall not be sufficient to prevent the calamities that shall come upon the nation.
