Thou therefore gird up thy loins, and arise, and speak unto them all that I command thee: be not dismayed at them, lest I dismay thee before them.

But you [Jeremiah], gird up your loins! Arise and tell them all that I command you. Do not be dismayed {and} break down at the sight of their faces, lest I confound you before them {and} permit you to be overcome.

Contemporary English Version
Jeremiah, get ready! Go and tell the people what I command you to say. Don't be frightened by them, or I will make you terrified while they watch.

Darby English Version
Thou, therefore, gird up thy loins, and arise, and speak unto them all that I shall command thee: be not dismayed at them, lest I cause thee to be dismayed before them.

Good News Bible
Get ready, Jeremiah; go and tell them everything I command you to say. Do not be afraid of them now, or I will make you even more afraid when you are with them.
