Which are bnot gods?
cBut My people have changed their Glory
For what does not profit.
They have forsaken Me, the afountain of living waters,
And hewn themselves cisterns—broken cisterns that can hold no water.
They made his land waste;
His cities are burned, without inhabitant.
In that you have forsaken the Lord your God
When bHe led you in the way?
To drink the waters of1 bSihor?
Or why take the road to cAssyria,
To drink the waters of the River?
And your backslidings will rebuke you.
Know therefore and see that it is an evil and bitter thing
That you have forsaken the Lord your God,
And the1 fear of Me is not in you,”
Says the Lord God of hosts.
And byou said, ‘I will not transgress,’
When con every high hill and under every green tree
You lay down, dplaying the harlot.
How then have you turned before Me
Into bthe degenerate plant of an alien vine?

Jeremiah 2:13
Of living waters - A metaphor taken from springs, called living, because they never cease, or intermit; such had God's care and kindness been over them. Cisterns - Either their idols, which are empty vain things, that never answer expectation, or the Assyrians, and Egyptians. Indeed all other supports, that are trusted to besides God, are but broken vessels.
