8 aThey were like well-fed lusty stallions;
Every one neighed after his neighbor’s wife. 
9 Shall I not punish them for these things?” says the Lord.
“And shall I not aavenge Myself on such a nation as this? 
10 “Go up on her walls and destroy,
But do not1 make a acomplete end.
Take away her branches,
For they are not the Lord’s. 
11 For athe house of Israel and the house of Judah
Have dealt very treacherously with Me,” says the Lord. 
12 aThey have lied about the Lord,
And said, b“It is not He.
cNeither will1 evil come upon us,
Nor shall we see sword or famine.

Jeremiah 5:10

Her walls - It is Possible that not the city walls, but those of a vineyard are meant. Judaea is God' s vineyard Isaiah 5:1-7, and God permits the enemy to enter the vineyard to destroy her.

Battlements - tendrils. The tendrils and branches of Judah' s vine are given up to ruin, but not the stock. See Isaiah 6:13 note.
