Excerpted from: Passover and I Corinthians 10You might jot down Jeremiah 10:23-24. It is a point to remember. That is where Jeremiah stated that the way of man is not in himself. It is not in him to direct his steps. It is something that we have to understand that when we come to God we are admitting to Him through repentance that our salvation is not internal—it is not something we can produce. It is not something mankind can produce.
The right way to live is not within us. It is something that has to come from the outside and that outside is God. So we ask God to direct our steps. We are asking God at baptism to make us into the image of Christ and to get rid of the perversions of human nature that have produced this world that we live in.
