to make their land an astonishment, and a perpetual hissing; every one that passeth thereby shall be astonished, and shake his head.

Making their land a desolation {and} a horror, a thing to be hissed at perpetually; everyone who passes by shall be astounded {and} horrified and shake his head.

Contemporary English Version
Your land will be ruined, and every passerby will look at it with horror and make insulting remarks.

to make their land an astonishment, a perpetual hissing: every one that passeth by shall be astonished, and shake his head.
