Exodus 18:25-26
Excerpted from: Government (Part One)Now, one final thing here—I want you to compare this with the American system of justice. In our system, if one gets an unfavorable decision from the court, the thought is always that one can appeal to a higher court. In this system in Exodus 18, there is no thought of appeal by the litigants given. It seems to be that only the judge passed it on, at his discretion, if he thought it was too hard for him to handle. Boy, that would clear up the court system in America in a hurry, and we would not have this big logjam of cases if there were no court of appeals.
Exodus 18:18-26
Excerpted from: Ecclesiastes Resumed (Part Twenty-Nine)What I wanted you to see there is there is no indication that God chose even one of those people. According to the context there, Moses simply appointed them. I will show you an expansion on this very thing but it does not occur until Deuteronomy 1 where we get a little bit clearer explanation.
