Commentaries:
Ezekiel personifies the end as an executioner who has woken early to await his orders to execute judgment. God warns us that what we face is not an end, but the end, a singular disaster awaits those of us in this end-time generation. We have earned it as a result of the violent abominations done in our midst. This singular unique occurrence corresponds to Jeremiah 30:7, "the time of Jacob's trouble." Ezekiel 7:10 gives a cause for this: "Pride has budded." What has it produced? Violence! God shows in Proverbs 13:10, "By pride comes only contention, but with the well-advised is wisdom."
