They have seen falsehood and lying divination, that say, Jehovah saith; but Jehovah hath not sent them: and they have made men to hope that the word would be confirmed.

Amplified® Bible
They have seen falsehood and lying divination, saying, The Lord says; but the Lord has not sent them. Yet they have hoped {and} made men to hope for the confirmation of their word.

Contemporary English Version
Those prophets lie by claiming they speak for me, but I have not even chosen them to be my prophets. And they still think their words will come true.

Darby English Version
They have seen vanity and lying divination, that say, Jehovah saith! and Jehovah hath not sent them; and they make [them] to hope that the word will be fulfilled.

Good News Bible
Their visions are false, and their predictions are lies. They claim that they are speaking my message, but I have not sent them. Yet they expect their words to come true!
