Ezekiel 20:12-13
Excerpted from: The Sin of Self-DeceptionEzekiel is telling us where this pragmatic, practical approach, led the people. It led them right into idolatry because through the years, they gradually forgot the rest of the holy days. Not only did the Feast of Tabernacles slide by the board, but eventually the others slid by the board as well, and then the weekly Sabbath also disappeared and we find God condemning Israel for two major sins. This is why they went into captivity—idolatry and Sabbath-breaking.
