Ezekiel 39:24

22 ^aSo the house of Israel shall know that I am the Lord their God from that day forward.

23 ^aThe Gentiles shall know that the house of Israel went into captivity for their iniquity; because they were unfaithful to Me, therefore ^bI hid My face from them. I ^cgave them into the hand of their enemies, and they all fell by the sword.

24 ^aAccording to their uncleanness and according to their transgressions I have dealt with them, and hidden My face from them.” ’

25 “Therefore thus says the Lord God: ^a‘Now I will bring back the captives of Jacob, and have mercy on the ^bwhole house of Israel; and I will be jealous for My holy name—

26 ^aafter they have borne their shame, and all their unfaithfulness in which they were unfaithful to Me, when they ^bdwelt safely in their own land and no one made them afraid.

27 ^aWhen I have brought them back from the peoples and gathered them out of their enemies’ lands, and I ^bam hallowed in them in the sight of many nations,

28 ^athen they shall know that I am the Lord their God, who sent them into captivity among the nations, but also brought them back to their land, and left none of them¹ captive any longer.

29 ^aAnd I will not hide My face from them anymore; for I shall have ^bpoured out My Spirit on the house of Israel,’ says the Lord God.”

The purposes of the past dispensation shall be made clear to God' s people themselves and to the pagan. His judgments were the consequence of their sins; and these sins once abandoned, the favor of their God will return in yet more abundance.

Ezekiel 39:29

Compare Acts 2:17. Peter distinctly appropriates these prophecies (marginal references) to the outpouring of the Holy Spirit on the day of Pentecost, and the inauguration of the Church of Christ by that miraculous event. This was the beginning of the fulfillment. They shall find their consummation when time shall be no more.
