15 From the front of the entrance gate to the front of the vestibule of the inner gate was fifty cubits.
16 There were abeveled window frames in the gate chambers and in their intervening archways on the inside of the gateway all around, and likewise in the vestibules. There were windows all around on the inside. And on each gatepost were bpalm trees.  

The Outer Court

17 Then he brought me into athe outer court; and there were bchambers and a pavement made all around the court; cthirty chambers faced the pavement.  
18 The pavement was by the side of the gateways, corresponding to the length of the gateways; this was the lower pavement.
19 Then he measured the width from the front of the lower gateway to the front of the inner court exterior, one hundred cubits toward the east and the north.

The Northern Gateway

20 On the outer court was also a gateway facing north, and he measured its length and its width.
21 Its gate chambers, three on this side and three on that side, its gateposts and its archways, had the same measurements as the first gate; its length was fifty cubits and its width twenty-five cubits.
22 Its windows and those of its archways, and also its palm trees, had the same measurements as the gateway facing east; it was ascended by seven steps, and its archway was in front of it.

Ezekiel 40:17-19

The "outward" or outer "court" (o, Plan II) corresponds to what was in Herod' s temple the court of Women, into which all Jews, but not Gentiles were admitted.

Chambers - (I) See Jeremiah 35:2.

A pavement - (H) Of mosaic work II Chronicles 7:3; Esther 1:6 which formed a border of forty-four cubits. On each side of the court in which there were gates, i. e., on east, north, and south. It was called the "lower pavement" to distinguish it from the pavement of the inner court; the outer court being lower than the inner Ezekiel 40:31.

Ezekiel 40:19

There were eastern, northern, and southern gates of entrance from the outer to the inner court (B).

Without - Not as in the margin, but looking outward, i. e., the outward front of the inner gate toward the outer court.
