Then the iniquity of Ephraim was uncovered,
And the wickedness of Samaria.
For athey have committed fraud;
A thief comes in;
A band of robbers1 takes spoil outside.
That aI remember all their wickedness;
Now their own deeds have surrounded them;
They are before My face.
Like an oven heated by a baker—
He ceases stirring the fire after kneading the dough,
Until it is leavened.
Princes have made him sick,1 inflamed with awine;
He stretched out his hand with scoffers.
While they lie in wait;
1Their baker sleeps all night;
In the morning it burns like a flaming fire.
And have devoured their judges;
All their kings have fallen.
aNone among them calls upon Me.

Hosea 7:3
They make the king glad - They pleased Jeroboam by coming readily into his measures, and heartily joining with him in his idolatry. And they professed to be perfectly happy in their change, and to be greatly advantaged by their new gods; and that the religion of the state now was better than that of Jehovah. Thus, they made all their rulers, "glad with their lies."
