American Standard Version
Moreover when ye fast, be not, as the hypocrites, of a sad countenance: for they disfigure their faces, that they may be seen of men to fast. Verily I say unto you, They have received their reward.

Amplified® Bible
And whenever you are fasting, do not look gloomy {and} sour {and} dreary like the hypocrites, for they put on a dismal countenance, that their fasting may be apparent to {and} seen by men. Truly I say to you, they have their reward in full already.

Contemporary English Version
When you go without eating, don't try to look gloomy as those show-offs do when they go without eating. I can assure you that they already have their reward.

Darby English Version
And when ye fast, be not as the hypocrites, downcast in countenance; for they disfigure their faces, so that they may appear fasting to men: verily I say unto you, They have their reward.
