Articles, Bible studies, and sermons that contain Matthew 12:40:
Matthew 12:38-40
Excerpted from: A Place of Safety? (Part 4)They rejected the very sign Christ himself gave that he was the Messiah. He said that He would be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth and they inserted their Good Friday crucifixion, Easter Sunday resurrection tradition. Do you remember Jesus degrading the Jews? It's recorded in Mark 7:7, a verse that everybody ought to have right in the forefront of their mind. It's so easy to remember. The combination of sevens: Mark 7, verse 7, where He said, "in vain do you worship me, teaching for doctrine the commandments of men, making the commandments of God of none effect by your traditions."
Matthew 12:39-40
Excerpted from: John 7:37 Examined (Part 1)Here was the only sign that Jesus directly gave as to His being the Messiah. It would be the length of time that he would be interred in the tomb following His crucifixion. Not the length of time from the time that He died, but from the time that He was interred in the tomb till the time He was resurrected and came out of the tomb.
